Unlike regular kind of flower arrangements such as European or American style floral art, Ikebana uses much broader range of plants. Namely Ikebana artists often use not only flowers/flower petals but also other plants such as green leaves, curly willows, grapevines, ferns, brackens and tree branches whatsoever. In case of Ikebana arrangements, plants other than flowers sometimes take an important role in the arrangements and they are used as a focal point.
The Ikebaba arrangement that uses green leaves or plants other than flowers creates the design offering unusual atmosphere different from regular kind of arrangement. By learning Ikebana, floral artists can sometimes earn valuable skills with which they make a totally unique arrangement which cannot be found in the regular flower designs. Therefore some designers can make the best use of Ikebana arranging skill to create a unique and contemporary floral designs by way of blending European floral art and Japanese Ikebana arrangement.
